Religious Education classes for children are held on Sunday mornings during the service from September to June. Children are invited to join us in the sanctuary for the first part of the service for the Story for All Ages, which presents the theme of each service in a fun and kid-friendly way. After the Story for All Ages, all children are invited to gather in the RE wing for their own classes.
Our congregation believes that religious education is a lifelong experience. Our pre-kindergarten through grade eight instruction is based on the Tapestry of Faith, which is “a collection of curricula and resources that nurture Unitarian Universalist identity, spiritual growth, a transforming faith, and vital communities of justice and love.” More information about Tapestry of Faith can be found here on the Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA) website.
We are fortunate to have six trained Our Whole Lives (OWL) facilitators among our congregation’s members and friends. OWL is a lifespan sexuality education program that provides accurate information about sexuality. Our facilitators are trained to teach children’s and youth OWL programs. Partnering with congregations in neighboring communities, we have offered OWL courses for grades kindergarten through grade nine. OWL’s comprehensive, lifespan sexuality education curricula have been adapted for secular and faith communities. Read more about OWL at the UUA website.
UUCGF has dedicated volunteers who coordinate classroom instruction, field trips, and service projects for children and youth. Please see our calendar for upcoming events, or call us at 518-793-1468 for more information about our Religious Education program.
