Rev. Barbara’s Adult Enrichment Classes for 2021-22 on Zoom

Here are the details of the THREE classes I’ll be offering on Zoom during the 2021-22 church
year. Preference will be given to those currently active in one of our three churches, whether brand new
or a long-term member.

1) Transcendentalism: More than Just Emerson – second Mondays, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m., (2 hrs.)
starting October 11 through June 13 (no class in March). Emerson has become synonymous
with Transcendentalism, and we’ll explore his work and influence. We’ll explore the work and
writings of several other Transcendentalists too, and examine Transcendentalism’s impact on
Unitarian Universalism and beyond. 3 – 6 pages of reading each month, provided a week or so in
advance. Maximum 19 people – email Rev. Barbara to register

2) The Bible Says… – second Thursdays, 6:30 – 8:30 p.m., (2 hrs.) starting October 14 through
June 9 (no class in March). We’ll examine several key Christian (New Testament) and Jewish
(Old Testament) scriptures, including how some Christian scriptures use Jewish texts. We’ll read
a short text and relevant background material for each session, about 3 – 5 pages, which I’ll
provide a week or so in advance. Having a New Revised Standard (NRSV) Bible at home will be
helpful. Maximum 19 people – email Rev. Barbara to register.

3) Who, Me? An Elder? – first Thursdays, 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.(1 ½ hrs.), starting October 7 through
May 5 (no March class). We’ll examine the aging process and how that affects each of us,
exploring questions about adaptation, finding meaning, letting go, embracing new/different
possibilities, etc. Preference given to those 65 and over. Maximum 19 people – email Rev. Barbara
to register. (I can offer this for a single church, maybe even in person, if there are 6 or more
interested from the same church. The time would be arranged by class participants.) Email Rev.
Barbara to register
